Golden State’s Elite: 10 Best Warriors in History

The Golden State Warriors are one of the oldest franchises in the NBA, and with such a rich basketball history comes its share of unique and tantalizing basketball talent. Here are some of the best athletes that donned a Warriors uniform.

Wilt Chamberlain – 41.5 PPG, 25.1 RPG, 3.5 APG (1959-1965)

Wilt Chamberlain is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history, and his time with the Warriors was no exception. During his six seasons with the team, Chamberlain put up astronomical numbers, including a record-setting 50.4 points per game in the 1961-62 season. He was a four-time All-Star and led the league in rebounding and field goal percentage in each of his six seasons with the team.

Stephen Curry – 24.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 6.5 APG (2009-Present)

Stephen Curry is arguably the greatest shooter in NBA history, and he has been a dominant force for the Warriors since his arrival in 2009. He is a seven-time All-Star and has won three NBA championships with the team. He has also won two NBA MVP awards and is the Warriors’ all-time leader in three-pointers made.

Rick Barry – 25.6 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 4.1 APG (1965-1967, 1972-1978)

Rick Barry was a superstar for the Warriors in the 1970s, leading the team to an NBA championship in 1975. He was a ten-time All-Star and led the league in scoring in the 1966-67 season. He is also known for his unorthodox underhanded free throw shooting style, which he used to great effect throughout his career.

Nate Thurmond – 17.4 PPG, 16.9 RPG, 3.7 APG (1963-1974)

Nate Thurmond was a dominant force in the paint for the Warriors in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a seven-time All-Star and is still the franchise’s all-time leader in rebounds. He also famously recorded a quadruple-double in a game against the Detroit Pistons in 1974.

Paul Arizin – 22.8 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 2.3 APG (1950-1962)

Paul Arizin was one of the NBA’s first superstars, leading the league in scoring twice in the 1950s. He was a ten-time All-Star and helped lead the Warriors to an NBA championship in 1956. He was known for his deadly jump shot and was one of the most prolific scorers of his era.

Chris Mullin – 20.1 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 3.9 APG (1985-1997)

Chris Mullin was a fan favorite during his time with the Warriors, known for his smooth shooting stroke and all-around offensive game. He was a five-time All-Star and won two Olympic gold medals with Team USA. He is also a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Neil Johnston – 19.4 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 2.5 APG (1951-1959)

Neil Johnston was a five-time All-Star and a three-time NBA scoring champion, and he also led the league in rebounding three times. Johnston helped lead the Warriors to three NBA Finals appearances and won two championships with the team. Purvis Short (1978-1987) Purvis Short was a skilled scorer who could light up the scoreboard from anywhere on the court. He was drafted by the Warriors in the first round of the 1978 NBA draft and spent nine seasons with the team. Throughout his career with the Warriors, Short averaged 17.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. He was named to one All-Star team and was known for his clutch shooting and ability to score in bunches.
